Most of the successful marketers I deal with have a good technical background. They don't necessarily do the coding but understand why the technology enhancements are important and how they will add value. For example, a tip for your blog (which is excellent) would be to add a way to subscribe via RSS in the top left hand corner. This will make it easier for people to subscribe and lead to higher traffic to your blog. A marketer today should be able to grasp the importance of this concept in 1 second. If you get a blank stare and then a response "what is RSS?" then you have an issue. The question as to who should add the RSS registration is a good one.
