Small Business Tools


I've been busy the past month, the posts are getting further between... I've been working on a few projects for my business, mainly finding a better mail system. This isn't necessarily marketing related, but when I find cool tools like this, I love to share the info.

In the past month, my existing mail server was crapping out on me, delayed mail, system taken offline alot. There were times we would experience a two day delay between a message sent and delivered. I needed a better option, more reliable and more scalable for our future growth. I'm also a big fan of MS Outlook, but as a startup, I need to keep costs in check.

As I was researching Hosted Exchange options, I found a company out of Quebec called Sherweb (www.sherweb.com). I was hesitent and researched alot of the competition before moving on it. They blew everyone else away in terms of features, functionality. These guys offer hosted Microsoft Exchange 2007 (better than my corporate client), Web Access, Mobile Sync for Win Mobile and Blackberry, 3 GB of email storage per account and the new SharePoint system from Microsoft. It's all integrated into the account and accessible anywhere.

We can store documents that can be shared between users and a whole host of other features. This might sound like an ad for Sherweb, but after going through the setup.. I was so satisfied, I even sent them a note thanking them for having such a great product.

As a small business owner, it's important to get the right tools, but even more important to keep costs in check. I've seriously got an enterprise software platform and it's only costing me $9 / month for each account.

If you're in the market for an enterprise level mail system, but don't want the headaches of managing servers, storage and all that... You should check them out.
